Most extractions

The extraction process typically involves the following steps:

Before the extraction procedure begins, the dentist will administer a local anesthetic to numb the area around the tooth. In some cases, sedation or general anesthesia may be used to ensure the patient’s comfort and relaxation during the procedure.

Once the area is numb, the dentist will use specialized instruments to loosen the tooth from its socket and gently remove it from the mouth. In cases where the tooth is impacted or difficult to access, the dentist may need to make an incision in the gum tissue or section the tooth into smaller pieces for removal.

Post-Extraction Care

After the tooth is extracted, the dentist will provide instructions for post-extraction care to promote healing and minimize discomfort. This may include applying gauze to control bleeding, taking pain medications as needed, and avoiding certain foods and activities that may interfere with healing.

Depending on the complexity of the extraction and the patient’s recovery, a follow-up appointment may be scheduled to monitor healing and ensure that no complications arise.
